Lip Blushing Aftercare
If you have ever had chicken pox, a fever blister, or a cold sore, you must take an
anti -viral medication before and after procedure to prevent the outbreak of cold
sores. (The most common found are Acyclovir, Famvir or Valtrex ). Failure to do
so may prevent you from healing normally and pain free. Cold sore breakouts will
also affect your color retention. Lysine also helps suppress the herpetic outbreaks.
Keep the area clean to help prevent infection and ensure proper healing.
Gently clean the area with mild soap and water 3x within the first 24 hrs and
follow that with the ointment provided by your technician.
Use the ointment provided to you after your procedure for at least 2 weeks post
procedure.
Drink through a straw for the first few days. Do not eat citrus fruits and juices,
greasy, salty, oily or spicy foods until your lips are completely healed.
While eating, do not constantly wipe your lips with a napkin or keep licking your
lips as this will impede the healing process.
DO NOT PICK the scabs off otherwise you will remove the pigment color.
Be careful when brushing your teeth. Toothpaste may pull the pigment out of the
lip vermilion.
Do not bleach your teeth or have dental procedures while your lips are healing.
Using products with Lidocaine in them will help to soothe the 'chapped' feeling.
No smoking while lips are healing.
No kissing or Oral Sex until the area is totally healed.
Avoid Lip Fillers/Injections 2 months before and 2 months after your procedure.
Avoid exposing the treated area to direct sunlight or tanning beds for at least two
weeks after the procedure. Sun exposure can cause the pigment to fade or
become discolored.
Avoid strenuous activities that may cause sweating or irritation to the treated
area, such as exercise or hot showers, for at least a few days after the
procedure.
Avoid wearing makeup on the treated area for at least a few days after the
procedure. If you must wear makeup, be sure to use a gentle, oil-free formula
and avoid rubbing or scratching the area.
After the second week, the color may disappear as if you never had the
procedure done. However, the color comes back through after your 4th week.
The lip color will gain color as the day go by. Initial touchups are done after 6-8
weeks.
